After the amazing Smallville panel with Michael Rosenbaum, jaesha, oanimation, and I were determined to get as early as possible to the queue for the panel with James and Michael. Frankly, that was the panel I’d been waiting for the entire weekend. When oanimation first told me about this panel, before D*C, I literally squeed her ear off! I was so excited! Despite having gone to bed late the night before, we were up early (by Dragon*Con standards) and claiming a spot at the front of the line, later on taking turns getting properly ready for the day. It was absolutely wonderful having the panels take place in the same hotel where we were staying! Brilliant!

The first panel of the day was Torchwood with Anthony Lewis, Gareth David Lloyd, and James. Frankly, I don’t watch the show. I tried when it premiered here in the U.S. but I just couldn’t get into it. I wasn’t interested in the panel, but I realized something the night before. I paid a lot to go to a party featuring James and this dude from TW. I should at least find out what he looks like. Plus, the panel took place in our own hotel, meaning very little walking was needed. Always a good thing at a con.

I’d been a little wishy-washy about attending Dragon*Con this year. Last year was my first, and though I thought it was okay, I wasn’t sure I would give it another try. Well, I’m SO happy that I did! I had a complete blast and I’m so sad it’s over. It’s been a while since I felt genuine sadness that a con was over. In recent times, it’s mostly been a relief, and probably because I worked those cons. Dragon*Con went by too fast and I really miss all my friends. I certainly enjoyed the con more this year versus last year, mainly because I did much more this time.
I had, as usual, absolutely wonderful roomies: seapea, jaesha, oanimation, and mad_brilliant_. Thank you mad_brilliant_ for having the foresight to book in advance! Also, all their all-night efforts certainly paid off, and I’m so incredibly thankful to them for that.
It was awesome seeing angstchic, eyesthatslay, musing_mia, psubrat, zoonut, vampgaia, thefangirl, lightdependent, jameslovin1, ladyanne04, rock_room, soulmate815, and zeta0497. I hope I’m not forgetting anyone… Likewise, I really missed not seeing sandy_s.
Over the weekend I took TONS of photos of all the panels I attended. I’m not kidding when I say tons, either. I definitely went overboard and I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to get through all of the photos. Especially since I have to send my computer in for repair this week and oh yeah… that little thing called school (and let’s not even mention that I’m nowhere near settled into my new location). I’ll try my best, though, and hopefully I’ll be able to get out as many photos as possible.

February 8th, 2008
Times sure do fly and I can’t believe it’s already February ‘08! I’ve been neglecting the site, or well this blog anyway, though I’ve been trying to update the Photo Gallery when I can. Last year was good to me with the traveling and all the events I got to attend.
This year is looking pretty good, too. Probably the bestest news so far is the Buffy Reunion being held by the Paley Center, as part of their annual Paley Fest!!! I’ve always wanted to go to one of these events… they always manage to have some cool shows take part in the fest. When I heard about the Reunion, there was no doubt in my mind I would try to attend. Angela and I now have tickets and I can’t wait! It’ll be awesome to see nearly the entire cast and Joss Whedon! Every Buffy fan’s dream event, I tells ya.
I do feel bad that a lot of people weren’t able to get tickets, and some who did are now scalping them on eBay for a lot more than face-value. That’s just not right. Here’s hoping that at least the event will be recorded and then distributed via DVD. That would be very neat and make a nice memento.
Aside Buffy, I’m also attending the Chuck and Pushing Daisies panels. Should be fun. Kinda sucky we can’t take photos during the events, but I’m sure they’ll be entertaining. The Chuck panel at Comic Con was hilarious, so for sure this one will be great, too!
Continuing on the fandom front, after the Paley Fest is Grand Slam again! They have a pretty neat line-up, too! I’ve really enjoyed all the events put on by Creation and I’m really happy I’ll be able to help out this year. I love volunteering for conventions, especially when the people running the events do a good job of putting them together. Good convention/event organizers are few and far between.
A few months after Grand Slam will be Comic Con, the con to end all cons. Good times in beautiful San Diego. This time I’ll make it a point not to lose my purse or anything else that might be vital, aside the pint or two of A pos that I’ll gladly donate.
Aside those set events, I’ll be attending the San Diego Indie Music Festival which should be great! It’s been a long while since I’ve been to a music event like this, so I’m really looking forward to it. I love discovering new music!
So that’s the tentative events/fandom schedule for the first part of the year. Fun times. :o)

Alright, so here are my brief-ish reports of all the JM-related events I attended in the UK (which just happens to be all *g*). Since it’s been a while, the details are fuzzy, but if you’re curious, do read on… :o)
