James Marsters: UK 2007

May 28th, 2007

Alright, so here are my brief-ish reports of all the JM-related events I attended in the UK (which just happens to be all *g*). Since it’s been a while, the details are fuzzy, but if you’re curious, do read on… :o)

England

May 28th, 2007

A month later I am finally posting about my trip to the UK and seeing James Marsters at the events there. All in all, it was a *lot* of fun! I met new people, reconnected with many I hadn’t seen in a couple of years, and strengthened bonds with my traveling companions. London was fabulous, too! We had mostly great weather, with only the last few days looking gray and chilly. My only complaint is that London air hates me. My allergies kicked up in ways I’d never experienced before; fortunately a little Claritin helped in that department.

Because of the length of my JM-related reports, I will post that on a separate page. However, I do have the below to say about Stonehenge…

Stonehenge was absolutely breathtaking! My friend and I did a special tour where we got up-close access to the landmark. We had to wait for the park to officially close and for everyone to get out. While we waited, we went into the gift shop and I bought this guide book for the site with lots of pretty pictures. Once everything was ready, we were led in to the stones and got the chance to walk all over the place… under, besides, between the stones… It was fantastic!!! While the tour guide talked about the site, oanimation and I just frolicked all over the place, trying to take as many photos as possible. Since it was just around sunset, and we actually had sun, the whole place just looked incredible! I don’t even know if I have the words to truly describe how amazing it felt to be there, to touch the stones, stand up close to just one of them and realize how incredibly tiny we are in comparison, to view the carvings in the stone left there thousands of years ago… It was definitely an experience I will never forget!

I have yet to work and post the photos I took, and sadly, it will probably have to wait until school is over, but eventually I definitely will.

Grand Slam 2007

April 25th, 2007

A couple of weeks ago I attended Creation Entertainment’s Grand Slam Sci Fi Summit. I’d never attended a Creation event, and wasn’t sure what to expect. It definitely wasn’t as big as I thought it would be, which was kind of nice! Most of the guest stars were of Star Trek origin, although there were also guests from Highlander, Farscape, Battlestar Galactica, Smallville, the Harry Potter movies, oh and of course, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which was my reason for attending. Despite having very little knowledge of some of the shows, I genuinely enjoyed several of the guest panels, especially Battlestar Galactica’s and Smallville’s Justin Hartley was incredibly charming and a total laugh riot.

James Marsters was the scheduled BtVS guest; he did Q&A’s on both Saturday and Sunday and a concert Saturday night. Many of the questions asked are some I’ve heard before and a few others were new and interesting. At the moment, none in particular stick out, but his Q&A’s were certainly very entertaining. It never ceases to amaze me how much energy this guy has, making it extra hard to snap photos. He was incredibly bouncy at this event and very smiley and much fun to see.

For the Saturday night concert, James sang several old favorites and some new ones. He was suppose to explain the stories behind some of his songs… as a friend expressed, though, he has way too many songs apologizing to his girlfriends. One that isn’t about apologizing, though, is This Town, which is definitely one of my favorite songs. Granted, I don’t interpret the song the way James sees it. Whereas he says that it’s about unrequited love, I think it’s more about two people trying to make a life together. I like this interpretation, so I’m sticking to it. I might be wrong, but I believe someone mentioned that this concert was the longest he’s ever done, with a total of 25 songs. Oooh! And he had another guitarist accompany him, which added a lot of depth to several of his songs. I think there are still a few kinks they need to work out, but it definitely sounded great! I hope the guitarist will accompany him all the way to London, where James will be doing a few concerts. That would be very neat!

I posted some photos of the weekend in the Gallery. Mostly James, but I do have some Adrian Paul and Battlestar Galactica photos coming in the near future. Those probably won’t be posted until I get back from the UK, though. I’m going to have quite a backlog by then, though, since I plan on taking many, many photos while traveling. I can’t wait to see Dublin!

AIDS Walk 2006

AIDS Walk 2006

The L.A. AIDS Walk came and went, and Team Neptune totally kicked ass! Towards the end, we raised our donations goal to $5,000. After everything was said and done, AIDS Walk said we raised over $6,000! Yay! Go Team Neptune! AIDS Walk 2007 will be even better. I just know it.

Michael Muhney came out and walked with us the majority of the way. He had a busy day, so left just before we finished the 6+ mile walk. The guy, as many have said, is totally made of awesome. He kept us so well-entertained the entire way that the entire walk was a breeze. Michael is by far the most wonderful and generous Hollywood person I’ve ever met.

We spent some time before the walk taking a few pics. I didn’t take my camera, these were taken by [info]spikes_cj. Next time, though, I’m definitely taking my camera, so what if it’ll feel like it weighs a ton by the end! Team Neptune below… Read the rest »

Michael Muhney Joins Team Neptune

September 27th, 2006

On October 15th, Veronica Mars fans from across California will gather for the 22nd annual Los Angeles AIDS Walk, benefiting AIDS Project Los Angeles and other HIV/AIDS programs across L.A. County. Team Neptune will be joining thousands of other walkers to not only promote the delightfully snarky show, but to also to support a very worthy cause. If his schedule permits, Michael Muhney, who plays Sheriff Don Lamb, will be joining Team Neptune on our 10-kilometer trek through West Hollywood! If you live in the L.A./Southern California area and are available, please register for the AIDS Walk and join Team Neptune! Meet other VM fans and enjoy the lively sights and sounds that make up the 10-kilometer walk! There are regular rest stops along the walk, filled with refreshments and there is much entertainment throughout the way. Lots of fun to be had!

If you can’t participate in the walk, but would still like to contribute, please make a monetary donation either to our Team or a member of our Team! As little as $1 can make a difference in the fight against AIDS.

Another way of helping is by purchasing an item from our Cafe Press store. All our items have a Team Neptune logo, in support of our Team, and all the profits will go towards meeting our Team’s fundraising goal.

Your help in any way possible is beyond appreciated!
